15 Minute Quick Shoot - Ladera Ranch Portrait Photographer

When we moved into the current condo we live in a little over a year ago, we noticed that our neighbors behind us were young and kid-less. We were stoked about this as it is really difficult to find late 20-somethings without kids to hang out with in Ladera Ranch. Unfortunately, we were too shy to go over and introduce ourselves. Luckily for us, our sister in law is not too shy. On a night where we were in our kitchen having some drinks, we noticed that our neighbors, Tim and Clare, were in their kitchen having drinks. It was then that my not-shy sister in law, Sara (of Sara Ellison Photography!), ran over and knocked on their door. Thankfully, this went over well instead of creeping them out. (Their garage was featured in this post!)

Fast forward! Clare wanted to get their Christmas card photo out of the way and asked if I could take a couple shots before they headed off to a wedding, since they were all dressed up, and here are my two favorite shots.

A Day at the Races and Ziggy Marley

My husband and I recently spent a day with a couple friends of ours at Del Mar Race Track. We watched and bet on races, drank beer, then stayed for the Ziggy Marley show. These photos are evidence of those. :)

Throw together some quick caprese!

They sell grown up sippy cups at the race track.

Come early and get good seats for the show.

Uh Oh Bango was a loser.

Waiting.

I took a photo of a guy taking a photo.

Cage9 at Ramona Mainstage Theater - San Diego Concert Photographer

I mentioned in this post about a second band that played that evening, and here they are! Here's just a handful of shots from the show. They were so high energy and so much fun to run around and shoot. Also, they had laser pointers on their guitars. Laser pointers.

Best mic stand ever?

See? Lasers!

Tux and Buddy - Orange County Pet Photographer

One of my long time hobbies is theater. I did much more of it when I was younger before I moved out here to California. I do still participate in one show a year now, which I am currently in rehearsals for. These photos are from Sunday when I had finished up with shooting Anthony and ran straight to rehearsal. Much to my delight, I found Tux and Buddy, the pets of my director and music director respectively, playing in the front yard of our rehearsal space in Laguna Beach. I was so lucky that I hadn't switched back from camera bag to purse and ended up getting these great shots.

A Real Zombie Housewife of Orange County

My friend Cocoa and I have been saying "We have to get together soon!" for a long time. It was too long. But we finally got excited enough about something to finally get together. This was it: Real Zombie Housewives of Orange County. See, Cocoa's super awesome hobby when she's not being a nurse is makeup! And not just regular pretty makeup, but crazy makeup. So when we decided to get together for a photoshoot, we just had to take advantage of that. So the idea of a zombie housewife came to me while driving through Ladera Ranch, where I live. If you've been there or have seen the Real Housewives on Bravo, you know that it's a very Stepford Wives type of community. I really don't know how I got specifically to what you're going to see in this post; it just kind of evolved into this. I do know that it was so so much fun!

Everyone loves balloons, even zombies.

Won't anyone join her for a Sludge-tini?

Everyone loves a (rotten) fruit basket!

Sometimes zombies struggle with gates.

Zombies can be so care-free that they float away.

But they can also be very possessive.

Don't steal balloons from zombies.

They are very good at sharing (rotten) fruit, though.

Backyard Golfing and a Walk in the Woods

I was in Ohio recently, spending time with my family. On this day, my brother had decided to take a break from working on my mom's new dining room to hit some golf balls in the field, so we joined him! Then when it was time to go find them, we decided to take a walk in the woods. There, we investigated the old car that's always been there, tried to follow the overgrown paths that my dad used to maintain, found the tree full o'bees, and did a little creek walking. This post is packed with photos!
Jason, my big brother and pro backyard golfer.

Jason took this one of me and I love the framing.

Mom and I are not very good at golfing.
Note the grass on the club and the ball still on the ground.

"Let's see what this baby's got under the hood."

"I'll take it!"

"Looks like rain. Better put the top up."

Bees! This was not taken with a telephoto. I walked on up to it!

Fuzzy li'l guy.
